1. Have smelly feet? Start washing them
As obvious as it may sound, washing your feet can't be reiterated enough if you want to get rid of foot odor. Washing your feet helps eliminate the bacteria that finds refuge between your toes. It also gets rid of dead skin cells that the bacteria feeds off of. Use an exfoliating cloth to wash your feet properly. This will help reduce your smelly feet issues.
2. Have smelly feet? Start drying them
After you get out of the showers, take time to pat your feet dry. Ensure they are completely dry before you stick them inside your shoes. This will help reduce the formation of the bacteria that causes foot odor.
3. Use a hand sanitizer to kill smelly feet germs
Apply a scented or unscented hand sanitizer to your feet in order to suppress the proliferation of foot bacteria that causes smelly feet.
4. Get a deodorant spray
Apply deodorant spray to your feet and rub it around your feet nicely to cover all area.
5. Vinegar and alcohol fight smelly feet
To fight off your embarrassing stinky feet issues, mix 50% vinegar with 50% rubbing alcohol (also called isopropyl alcohol). This mixture is harmless to your skin but helps kill of the fungus that causes foot odor.
6. Embrace open toe shoes
Give your feet the ability to breathe a bit by wearing open toe shoes and sandals. Doing this often can help cure your stinky feet problem.
7. Spray your feet with antiperspirant
Antiperspirants have a reaction with sweat by forming gel plugs that cover your sweat ducts. Believe it or not, our feet have more than 250,000 sweat glands, on a per inch basis; that's more sweat glands than any other area of our body. Therefore, applying a little antiperspirant to your feet can go a long way in reducing your smelly feet problems.
8. Treat stinky feet with talcum powder
Talcum powder is an astringent, so it will help dry out your feet and reduce the sweating that causes foot odor.
9. Cure foot odor with baking soda
To get rid of foot odor, you have to create an alkaline environment around your feet. Contrary to an acidic environment, bacteria cannot survive in an alkaline space. Applying baking soda to your feet will help create this alkaline environment necessary to suppress foot odor.
10. Get rid of foot odor with corn starch
Corn starch helps absorb sweat, so apply it to your feet.
11. Drop cedar wood in your shoes
Shoes are mostly responsible for smelly feet. So attack the problem at its source by dropping cedar wood inside your stinky shoes. This will help fend off the bad odor in a few days.
12. Change your socks daily
Wear white socks so that you can see how quickly they get dirty. This will motivate you to change them daily. Black or colored socks are more prone to cause foot odor because you tend to wear them longer.
13. Know how to wash your socks
Turn your socks inside out prior to washing them. This helps get rid of dead skin cells that are stuck on the inside.
14. Absorbent socks help fight foot odor
Only wear absorbent socks made of wool or cotton. Non-absorbent socks such as nylon socks trap sweat around your foot, causing smelly feet in the long run.
15. Drizzles baking soda in your shoes and socks
Similar to applying it on your feet, drizzling some baking soda in your shoes and socks can help treat foot odor and get rid of your stinky feet problems.
16. Remove the insoles from your shoes
To dry off your shoes, remove the insoles from time to time to air them out, otherwise wearing the same 'wet' shoes day in and day out is a recipe for stinky feet.
17. Wash your shoes in a washing machine
Did you know that shoes can be washed in a washing machine? Obviously not all types of shoes can be washed, but your workout shoes for example should be washed regularly in the machine. Washing your shoes regularly can help fight foot odor.
18. Remove your shoes frequently
Whenever you get a chance to do so, remove your shoes to air them out. Bacteria that cause stinky feet thrive in a humid environment, so removing the shoes regularly can help prevent the formation of foot odor.
19. Soak your feet into green tea
Tea contains tannic acid, which helps dry out your skin. Soaking your feet in green tea for half an hour can help combat foot odor by drying out the sweat glands.
20. Soak your feet in salt water
To help reduce foot odor, mix half a cup of kosher salt for every quart of water. Soak your feet in it and dry them out nicely.
21. Drop baby powder in your shoes
Last but not least, similar to baking soda, dropping baby powder in your shoes can help fight off smelly feet.
